Project Narrative
In collaboration with Roche Bros., the project design team executed a complete takeover and renovation of another brand’s existing grocery store. The 9,000 square foot renovation included both an interior and exterior facelift, gutting the entire space. The existing façade was reimagined by opening it to the exterior with glazing. The scope included an emphasis on identity development, fixture design, interior/exterior design, environmental graphic design and material specifications. Brothers Marketplace strives to reinvent the idea of a corner grocery with unique product offerings that focus on fresh and locally crafted artisan foods. Their dedication to offering a curated collection of prepared meals and fresh local offerings sets them apart from larger chain retailers. The store environment is designed to highlight unique attributes of the history and heritage of the neighborhood and delivers on the brand promise: “Eat. Drink. Be… Local.” Brothers Marketplace strives to pay homage to the unique and special qualities and characteristics of each community in which they reside. A key amenity of the Weston location is the tea and bakery shop, which offers a selection of fine teas that can be enjoyed in an inviting seating area or packaged to take home. The environmental graphics are designed with a “postal stamp” aesthetic, intended to reference Weston’s historic location along the Boston Post road, further paying homage to the historic significance of the neighborhood.
